Kshitij - soaring beyond the horizon is the annual international intercollegiate cultural festival of Mithibai College. The name and the tagline surely ring in a sense of enthusiasm and renewed vigour among the college students of Mumbai and around the world. Engrossing and encouraging young talent, it is unquestionably the epitome of teamwork and a house of fresh talent. Celebrated across four days, Mithibai’s Kshitij has become the paragon of all youth fests and is soaring beyond the horizon.


An event which the entire youth circuit of Mumbai looks forward to. Standing true to it's name and tagline, Kshitij touches new horizons every year, setting an enviable benchmark for all other youth festivals across the city. The phoenix rises from it's ashes with a double head every year to conquer the city of dreams and set it ablaze with zest and vigour. In it's twelfth year, the double headed phoenix has risen yet again and this time with a vow to soar higher than ever before, to discover new horizons and to reach for the skies. The preparations for the twelfth year have unfolded and Kshitij is sure to rock Mithibai once again. Sweeping the city of dreams into a celebratory mood for four days, Kshitij’18 is ready to take on Mumbai with passion and zeal.


For the last 11 years Kshitij has been a paradigm for teamwork and dedication; creating a million memories and cementing a million bonds. This cultural extravaganza never fails to enthral the youth with it's innovative and star studded themes every year. Coming from the year 2007, when the phoenix soared for the very first time, Kshitij had a myriad range of themes like ‘Estera Di Fiesta’ in Kshitij’14, ‘Legion of Legends’ in Kshitij’15, ’Manifestation of Mirage’ in Kshitij’16 and ‘India- A Divine Abode’ in Kshitij’17. Each theme has been symbolic in true sense and has been triumphant in sending across a message each time. This year Kshitij with its theme - A Nostalgic Takeover is going to take everyone down the memory lane. Everyone at Kshitij, is going to reminisce their fondest memories and relive their past, as we will always be nostalgic about things which are not yet over.


Ever since it's inception, Kshitij has garnered the attention of the youth with all it's glitz and glamour. Kshitij’18 was launched with Aishwarya Rai Bachchan. To add to the dazzling shine, Kshitij has also been affiliated with many Bollywood movie promotions. It has been associated with the prominent star cast of proclaimed movies. The Dirty Picture’s launch in 2011, Priyanka Chopra and Hrithik Roshan promoting Krrish 3 in 2013, the trailer launch of the Varun Dhawan starrer Badlapur in 2014 and movie promotions of Brothers with Akshay Kumar and Jacqueline Fernandez in 2015. Shandaar movie’s song launch took place in Mithibai Kshitij with Shahid Kapoor and Alia Bhatt in 2015. The tenth edition of Kshitij was launched by Aishwarya Rai and the team of Ae Dil Hai Mushkil, Ranbir Kapoor and Anushka Sharma as they celebrated 10 years of Kshitij. The events too are judged by well known personalities who excel in those fields. Sophie Choudry, Sajid Khan, Shreyas Talpade and many such celebrities have come as judges in Kshitij.


Mithibai College has sent great talent out there in the world. Mithibai has famous alumni in all the fields including Business, Bollywood, Education and many more. Shahid Kapoor, Kareena Kapoor, Ajay Devgan, Ashutosh Gowariker, Boman Irani and many such talented artists were once under the vibrant roof of Mithibai College.


The most awaited part of Kshitij is its pronites. Getting the best artists from around the world for Kshitij, is something which adds to its glamour. Always entertaining the crowd with its International, Bollywood and Punjabi nights, Kshitij is known for the best pronites. Kshitij’17 had the first non-ticketing concert for Farhan Akhtar in Maharashtra. This was one such night which will not be easily rewritten in our history. They have also had artists like Stadium X, Milind Gaba, Jaz Dhami, DJ Justri and many more. Jashoda Rang Mandir is filled with students who come together to celebrate this event, high on oomph and life.


Kshitij has a wide range of events in eight different departments, offering something or the other for everyone out there. The departments are Performing Arts, Literary Arts, Creative and Fine Arts, Management Events, Gaming and Sports, Photography, Film Fest and Informals which conduct 55-60 events all together. We have events such as Scorch the Floor, Mr. and Ms. Kshitij, Just a minute which have always attracted a huge crowd. Kshitij has the best events in all possible fields.


Since its inception in 1961, Mithibai College of Arts, Chauhan Institute of Science and Amrutben Jivanlal College of Commerce and Economics is envisaged as a destination for the most talented and promising students, and caters to the need of a number of professions. NAAC Reaccredited ‘A’ Grade to the college (CGPA 3.57). Mithibai was awarded the best college of Mumbai University for 2016-17. The college is honored with the Government of India DST-FIST grant, the DBT-Star College grants and also a hefty grant of Rs. 5 crore from RUSA for enhancing excellence in higher education. This year, UGC has conferred Grade 1 Autonomy for the period of 10 years without onsite visit by expert committee.
